After finishing my Masters in Art History in 2022, I found myself at a crossroads. A new beginning. Was I supposed to carry on with my education? Or was the next step starting a PhD or look towards setting up online art courses.
I began to wonder where I was going and what I was going to do next. Then one evening I was sitting with my adult son and I just started talking to him about an idea for a story. All credit to him as I talked for about two hours non stop about the main characters and what would happen and why. I had the start of not just one book but a whole series!
However I realised that I needed more tools before I began writing, and after putting down the basic plots for each book, I applied for a writing course with New Writing North. This had such an impact on my emerging writing voice and continue to be a member of their alumni as well as attending their annual writing conference either in person or online.
So here I am a few years down the line with that final draft of my first book in sight, my dystopian trilogy bubbling away on the back burner, and nearly enough short stories and flash fiction to self publish!
